The Government of Odisha, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub section (1-a) of Section 9 of the Orissa State Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993 hereinafter called OSCBC Act, 1993 read with Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes (Amendment) Act, 2020, has approved the proposal of Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes to conduct a survey of the social and educational conditions of the people belonging to the backwardness in Odisha. The survey of the social and educational conditions of backwardness would be carried out by the Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes.

The objective of the survey is to get details about the people belonging to backwardness in Odisha.

This survey shall be conducted from 1st May to 27th May, 2023 including special drive.

The survey will encompass various indicators of the backwardness such as occupation, educational qualifications along with the type of educational institutions attended by the members of the households to gauge the social & educational conditions of the backwardness in Odisha.
